Wainwright Society Calendar 2017

Following the success of previous years, the Society is once again producing a pictorial calendar for 2017. This uses the photographic skills of some of our members, all of whom have provided their services free of charge.

The calendar is large format, size A3 with one page per month. Each month features a photograph taken by a member together with a related sketch and quote from one of AW’s famous works.

The proceeds from sales of the 2017 calendar will be donated to the Lake District Calvert Trust, a charity with almost 40 years’ experience in enabling people with disabilities to access the great outdoors. The Calvert Trust offers fully accessible accommodation and caters for people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, including those with the most complex needs. A team of experienced staff work with visitors to ensure that everyone reaches their potential no matter what their level of ability, building confidence and developing a range of skills. A broad range of activities is offered which have been carefully adapted to enable all to take part including hand cycling, archery, horse riding, sailing, canoeing and abseiling.

The Society will be supporting the Trust in their project to develop the Bowderstone Bothy in Borrowdale to make it fully accessible.

The bothy is next to the Trust’s accessible abseil site and the project will enable visitors to experience the unique and life changing experience of an overnight stay in a mountain bothy.

The price for 2017 has been held at £10 for web sales for buyers in the UK, EU and the US/Canada. Prices for other areas can be provided on request and these and any other queries concerning the calendar should be sent to Calendars will also be on sale at the Society lecture at Rheged on 15 October and at some Society walks.

The Website has now been closed for sales but calendars are still available. Please send any queries to
