ALFRED WAINWRIGHT CENTENARY EXHIBITION
Great
Harwood Library exhibition of original Alfred Wainwright material.
It includes sketches, letters and photographs and will be displayed
until 29th February 2008.
THE WAINWRIGHT MEMORIAL LECTURE 2007
The
fifth Wainwright Memorial Lecture was given by Cameron McNeish at Rheged

THE WAINWRIGHT SOCIETY AUTUMN DINNER
Arising from popular demand at this year’s AGM, the Society
held a three-course dinner on Saturday 29 September 2007 at the Castle Green

THE WAINWRIGHT COAST TO COAST CHALLENGE
As part of
the Wainwright Society’s initiative to have the Coast
to Coast walk’s status elevated to that of a National Trail the
Society is planning a project which will require significant participation

Wainwright Society proposes to produce a book of the 50 Best Walks in
Lakeland. The submission of these walks is limited to members of the

THE GREAT LAKELAND CHALLENGE
In May 1955 Alfred Wainwright published the first of his Pictorial
Guides to the Lake District. The Wainwright Society is marking this
event by recording the ascent of all 214 fells in the Pictorial Guides
and those in the Outlying Fells in one week in May. [more]
THE WAINWRIGHT MEMORIAL LECTURE 2004

A fascinating exhibition looking at the life and works of Alfred
Wainwright the well known fell walker, author and artist, opened at Kendal
