Wainwright Society Fundraising | 2002 - 2008

In the early days of the Society we were only able to make small donations to a few local organisations with payments being made out of Society funds to Animal Rescue Cumbria, and the Lake District Tourism and Conservation Partnership (now Nurture Lakeland).

The first main change came in 2005 where Society members came up with the idea of having a Challenge with a small donation being made as a result. This Challenge however was to become an annual event and in 2007 and 2008 we were able to donate around £5,000 to Keswick and Cockermouth Mountain Rescue teams as well as making donations to the Buttermere Church window fund and other smaller projects.
