Wainwright Society Fundraising | 2009

This was the year when our fundraising moved into a new gear. Following a suggestion by some of our members, we produced our first Society Calendar and profits from this were donated to Fix the Fells with a presentation from the newly formed calendar team being made on a repaired section of the path near the summit of Stake Pass. Our Challenge funds, supplemented significantly by the sale of copies of a picture by Andy Beck and a raffle for the original, were donated to SARDA.

We also raised a large amount by organising a lecture by Sir Chris Bonington and Doug Scott CBE the proceeds of which, along with other fund-raising activities was donated to the Cumbria Flood appeal. The money raised was given to Mountain Rescue Teams and RNLI who between them played a major part in the aftermath of the floods.

Our newly formed Calendar team (Dik Stoddart, Derek Cockell, Jenny Whalley and Martin Roberts) present a cheque on Stake Pass to Richard Fox of Fix the Fells.
