Gift Your Gear and The Wainwright Society

What sort of ‘gear’ is wanted?

·        Waterproof Outdoor Jackets

·        Any Fleece items

·        Walking, Technical Trousers and Salopettes

·        Waterproof over-trousers

·        Shorts

·        Hats, gloves, scarves and socks as long suitable for the UK hills.

·        All children’s outdoor clothing

·        Walking poles

·        Maps and guides

·        Tents and shelters

·        Rucksacks and Day sacks

·        Sleeping bags and sleeping mats

·        Cookers, pots and pans suitable for lightweight camping. (Climbing gear will be sent to Green Park Gear; Mountain sun and glacier glasses).

Please don’t send any gas cylinders, hydration packs or underwear.

All gear should be able to be reused for its original purpose. For example, tents should be complete, all clothing should be reusable without repair and all donations should be clean. Please check the pockets before sending.

How to donate:  We will be organizing collections at all Wainwright Society events in the future until further notice. The first collection event will be the Memorial Lecture at Rheged on Saturday 25th October 2014. We will also collect at Society AGMs and, hopefully, at most Society walks. Just bring your donations and we will do the rest, getting the gear to Rohan, the project coordinators, for onward distribution.

Note: If you are not intending to come to any Society events in the near future but have gear you can donate, visit the website below where you will find details of other ways to donate.
